Finally! The End of Term!

Boy, it’s been a looooong term! It feels like from September to now lasted around 4 years, not 4 months!

But then that is a pretty common misconception amongst us teachers. We keep on going, despite being shattered, and the end of the Christmas term is always so joy filled for our little ones, we want to keep going, be part of their happiness!

So it is always so wonderful, and much appreciated, when we are gifted something at the end of the term. It is never an expectation. In fact, a card would suffice. But then, it makes us feel special too!

I came home with rather a haul from both pupils and family and colleagues!

The top left was a gift from my Secret Santa.. a notebook for me to write poems into!

Tired as I was, it was not important as I had a Christmas party to attend with my colleagues! Yes, the staff Christmas party! Sometimes the stuff of nightmares, but if I’m honest, I have amazing colleagues, and we all have such fun!

Then today I added an extra layer of exhaustion by visiting Bluewater Shopping Centre, and going ice skating with the kids, eating a rather large lunch, and hare-ing around finishing the Christmas shopping, whilst trying to hide things from the kids! But Hubby Dearest and I had it all covered!

To top it off, I finished as much of the wrapping as I could.

It’s just a good house clean, before the Big Fat Fella in Red arrives, and the last bits of food shopping to do tomorrow! I fear my second wind will only last another day, then I’ll end up ill, like the rest of the household, but I am holding out!!!

Til tomorrow Peeps!

Welcome………

img_1342

Let’s have a big splash, a veritable Mad Hatters Xmas  Party…. Invite masses of bloggers over to share cake, music, their links and stories. Wait a minute, it’s a bit cold for swimming… so let’s pop over to Winter Wonderland.

So first things first – provisions –  I’m  off to Cambridge market to get some nibbles…. I better wrap up warm, it looks cold out there. I’m just starting to recover from a bit of a nasty illness. No worry, I’m sure some hot jacket potatoes, olives, tasty bread, cheeses, fruit, and whatever else takes my fancy, will warm me up and make me feel much better. Don’t worry, I promise not to eat it all!

Now with that done,  phew these bags are heavy. How are we going to get to Winter Wonderland? We could walk but that would be boring, and Kyrosmagica doesn’t do boring. So, let’s go ….

Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 96

wp-1477780170436.jpg

“Smile in the mirror. Do that every morning and you’ll start to see a big difference in your life.” – Yoko Ono

Thanks for this one Spidey.

It’s a reminder I feel a heck of a lot of people I know could do with right now.

If you know me, you’ll know that I seldom have anything but a smile on my face. I rarely plaster foundation and cosmetics on my face, my makeup is my smile.

And as long as I have a smile on my face, there is so much in life that feels easier to deal with.

I’m not a total dreamer though. I know that having a smile plastered on your face 24/7 is not going to magically make all problems disappear.

In fact, many of those that have a smile regularly, are often those who are going through a lot in the background of their life, but like a clown, that smile masks everything else.

It’s true of me too. Life is seldom smooth sailing. There is always something bubbling away in my mind, but for me, facing life with a smile really does help.

It’s also good exercise, you know! We use more muscles to smile than to frown!

And a smile is often contagious. If you beam at someone, or give a little smile, you’ll often receive one in return, or if you don’t you may have given someone a little spark of positivity that they will hopefully allow to ignite into a full smile a bit later!

I found a lovely article here on some facts about smiling. Be sure to check it out!

So make sure you smile Peeps, at yourself, and at others. It’ll make for a better day! 🙂
