Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 144

“Real love stories never have endings.” Richard Bach

Following in the vein of this special love filled weekend for my Hubby and I, Spidey found this quote which I absolutely loved!

Isn’t this just so true?

If you have found that love of your life, you don’t want your story written, and just signed off ‘happily ever after’… No! You want to continue growing together, evolving together, and writing more chapters of your life together.

Real love should be a never-ending series of books, not a one off chapter book!

I’m off to continue my 16th Anniversary celebrations!

Have a Serene Sunday Peeps!

#SoCS Nov. 18/17 – Psst!

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “psst, or any other attention-getting noise or word.” Find a word or noise that you’d use to get someone’s attention, and start your post off with it. Enjoy!

Ahem… Cough, cough… Are you listening?

I feel I need to be a little honest here…

I’ve been a bad girl.

Well, okay, not like law-breaking awful, but still, I have been naughty.

You know I spent all that time posting all that yummy healthy food, and my weight loss journey?

I’ve only gone and fallen off the wagon!

Okay, so it’s not as bad as it could have been… but ever since Easter (wow that is a while back!) I have been struggling with my willpower. Too many chocolate eggs around didn’t help… and I found myself craving the things I shouldn’t have.

If I wanted something, one wasn’t enough, I needed two. But I managed to control myself for a while longer.

But…

Since the summer holidays, OMG, I can’t stop eating!

I try so hard to be good. And I am. During the day.

But once the evening hits, I am unable to stop myself from pigging out on the stupidest of things!

As a result, I am now at the stage where I need to lose half a stone, or seven lbs to make me feel better about myself again!

Eeeeek!

But, since it’s anniversary weekend, don’t expect me to start this weekend!

Maybe I’ll be part way there by Christmas…

Now, let me get back to my chocolate fruit!

Anniversary Musings

16 years ago, I finally became a Mrs.

It was a beautiful day, albeit a little cold, being November!

A year of frantic planning, which had followed a beautiful four-year romance, during which we made the choice to be together forever ♥

We did the whole shebang, full on traditional craziness, from all the colourful customs, like the Maaiyaan (turmeric ceremony) and the Chura (Bangle ceremony), to some more modern, personal ones like a fancy dress night – well my family did anyway!

And the day itself was magical.

The beautician turned me into a princess, and my prince was there waiting for me at the Gurdwara, ready to take our vows in front of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and our loved ones.

We had a beautiful ceremony, followed by a fun-filled reception (I even had a bubble machine for the kids – and me!)

The Doli (leaving ceremony) was emotional, where it really hit home that I was leaving my parents, but after a heart-wrenching set of goodbyes, we finally set off on the journey that would take me to my new home.

And here we sit, 16 years on.

Happily together, with our own home, two crazed tweens, a furbaby and two feathered ones too!!

My Hubby Dearest has been my rock for the last 20 years, to be honest, and every day my love and respect grows for him a little more. He’s put up with my craziness over the years – and there is still plenty of that to come! He lovingly calls me ‘#Hashtag-Valiye’ – Hashtag Girl, basically, having had to share me with this blog, and all the social media that comes with it for the last few years.

I can truly say that I would not want to spend my life with anyone else but him.

Hubby Dearest- Happy Anniversary my darling, I love you more each day, thank you for being who you are, and for accepting me for who I am. Thank you for gifting me with our two children. Thank you for your never-ending support, and belief in me and my capabilities. My wish is that we are together forever, writing new chapters of our life together as we gain wrinkles and memories ♥

Our First Dance

And so today we are off to celebrate our 16th Wedding Anniversary – sans children or pets – with a weekend away!

Flash Fiction Challenge – Meshed #CarrotRanch #FlashFiction @Charli_Mills

I’m taking a chance on one of Charli’s 99-word prompts over at The Carrot Ranch!

Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary, and I was prompted to write something that tied with this momentous occasion when reading Charli’s prompt this week. ❤

November 16, 2017 prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) use the word mesh in a story. Mesh is both an object and a verb, which you can freely explore. You can play with its sound, too. Go where the prompt leads.

Here’s my take!

Meshed
Sitting together in the backseat, our fingers met and slowly entwined. Our eyes met and a smile spread across our faces.
It had been a big day today. Emotional, but worth every tear I had shed.
After vows had been taken, congratulations had been exchanged, music and merriment, feasting and festivities had finished, the final goodbyes had started.
Looking back, I saw my family waving. Looking forward, his family held their arms open, welcoming me.
It was then I realised that there was no them and us, but two families, forever meshed together because of our love and union.

More Conversations With Strangers

You know me.

I like to chat…lots!

My Hubby Dearest and kids are resigned to the fact that if they are going out somewhere with me, that there is a high possibility that I will end up engaging in some sort of conversation with some random!

Yesterday, I went to the nail salon to get my nails refreshed before my anniversary weekend (as you do) and I entered into a conversation with one of the other clients about what colour, or more specifically, which blue she should go for.

Content that I had helped her with her electric blue shade issue, I settled back to chat to my technician about Instagram, as they don’t have a business account, and I wanted to let them know that I used a picture of my last trip there as an entry for the Black and White Photo Challenge, and that it was responsible for bringing in around 100 views a day, in the last few weeks! I have had over 2000 views just for that post recently!

The electric blue lady’s ears perked up. “What do you mean by posts?” I explained that I blogged.  “Ooooh! Do you have a YouTube channel then?”

“No,” I explained, ” I write, I don’t make videos. I’m a Blogger, not a Vlogger!”

“So, are you like one of them advice writers?”

“Erm, not really. I write about everything and anything that comes to mind. Poetry, fiction, life…”

She went quiet for a moment or two, then quietly said “I have a problem with boys… Like they are just all so bleurgh….”

Okaaay….

I settled back to chat to my technician who has a son in Reception class. She always tells me about his difficulties with writing and concentration, so I try to help out with different strategies she could use with him to get him engaged with mark making, and focussing.

I explained how he is possibly not ‘listening’ or joining in because he doesn’t fully understand instructions, being a student with English as a second language and that the teacher should be addressing him in a simpler way, so he can access all the learning, until his English is more secure.

Ms Electric Blue joined in again.

“So, he doesn’t understand so he doesn’t concentrate? He must have ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). I’ve got that.”

She went on.

“I think if my boy was at school and I needed to, I’d bug the teacher every day until they’d listen. I worry he might have it too.”

The conversation went on. Her son is only 5 months old. I told her to not expect him to automatically have ADD just because she does. Then she went on to list health complaints her family has (Asthma/ exzcema / Depression) and that she was so scared her baby would have it too. She confessed that her own reading and writing was poor due to her condition not being supported at school, because a proper diagnosis not being issued until she was at college.

By this time, another client, American in nationality, joined in too, giving her advice, which was similar to mine, in that she should try not to assume her baby will carry some sort of condition, and to think positive.

We settled back into our treatments.

She came and sat next to me.

“Being a mum makes you feel so old,” she said, “I’m only 21.”

I gave her a smile, “Well, I’m mum to a near teenager, and an almost 10 year old, and I’m double your age. 42. And I really don’t feel old, most of the time! Enjoy your baby, and try and enjoy the time you have with him at this age. They grow up far too fast!”

She turned back to her nails then, concentrating on the blue…

And just like that, one of my strange conversations with strangers ended.

I did feel I may have left this one, having imparted some useful advice though… and I’m glad the family weren’t around, they would have never let me chat for as long as I had done!

And my nails?
